Individual therapy

One adult, one clinician, a steady hour

For adults who want a place to talk through what is weighing on them: work, money, family, a loss or a big change. Sessions are 50 minutes, in English or in Spanish.

  • Who it helps

Adults, 18 and older, who want to talk with a clinician one on one.

  • What sessions are like

You talk, your clinician listens and asks questions, and together you decide what to work on.

  • How we work

Talk therapy, such as cognitive behavioral approaches. Your clinician says which approach they use and where they trained.

Good to know

The plain answers

  • What this is not

It is not an emergency service, and it is not medication. If you need a prescription, we help you reach your doctor or a psychiatrist.

  • How long, and how often

Sessions are 50 minutes. Many people start weekly. Your clinician sets the pace with you and promises no number of sessions.

  • How it is paid

With Medicaid, Medicare or a private plan, or by the sliding scale. You have your fee in writing first.

    How fees work
  • Who you will see

Cipriano Fuente, Gwendolyn Mathis or Yamileth Casarez, depending on the language and the times you prefer.

Questions

What people ask about this service

What happens in the first session?

It lasts about an hour. Your clinician explains how they work, what stays private and where the limits are, and the possible risks and benefits of therapy. You talk about what you would like from the time, and you decide together whether to continue.

How often, and for how long?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes, and sessions for couples and families are 80. Many people come once a week to start. Your clinician sets the pace with you and does not promise a number of sessions.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if someone is at serious risk of harming themselves or another person, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, your clinician may have to tell others. We explain this in writing before you start.
