Family and couples therapy

Room for everyone at the table

For couples, and for families who want to talk with each other with a clinician in the room. A parent or guardian is present when a child or teen joins. Sessions are 80 minutes.

  • Who it helps

Couples, and families of two or more generations, who want to be heard by one another.

  • What sessions are like

Everyone gets time to speak. Your clinician keeps the conversation fair and helps each person say what they mean.

  • How we work

Talk-based family and couples approaches. Your clinician says which one they use and where they trained.

Good to know

The plain answers

  • What this is not

It is not a way to decide who is right, and it is not an emergency service. If anyone is unsafe at home, call 911.

  • How long, and how often

Sessions are 80 minutes, so each person has time to speak. Many families start every other week. Your clinician sets the pace with you.

  • How it is paid

The same plans and the same sliding scale as other services. One fee covers the whole session.

    How fees work
  • Who you will see

Khanh Cao or Yamileth Casarez. Khanh also sees families in Vietnamese, and Yamileth in Spanish.

Questions

What people ask about this service

Can you see my teen, and how does consent work?

Teens come to family sessions with a parent or guardian. For anything beyond that, call us. The clinician explains Kansas consent rules in plain words before anyone signs.

How often, and for how long?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes, and sessions for couples and families are 80. Many people come once a week to start. Your clinician sets the pace with you and does not promise a number of sessions.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if someone is at serious risk of harming themselves or another person, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, your clinician may have to tell others. We explain this in writing before you start.
