How fees work
The questions nearly everyone asks before a first session.
Insurance we work with
Anchor bills Medicaid (KanCare), Medicare and many private plans, and you pay the copay or deductible your plan sets. We check your benefits and tell you what we found before your first session. If a plan does not cover a visit, we talk about the sliding scale with you.

If you pay yourself
If you do not have insurance, or you would rather not use it, your fee comes from our sliding scale. Household size and household income set your tier. You bring proof of income to intake, and we give you the fee in writing before your first session. Reduced-fee spots depend on funding, and we review your tier with you if your income changes. Please tell us 24 hours ahead if you need to change a session.
Receipts for reimbursement
Your own plan may reimburse part of a visit. For each session we give you an itemized receipt (a superbill) that you can send to your plan. It carries a diagnosis code that your insurer can see. Your plan decides what it pays, so ask it before you start.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We give you one with your sliding-scale fee. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
Checking your benefits
Our intake team checks your benefits before your first session and tells you what they found, in English or Spanish. If you are not sure which path fits you, call us and we will sort it out together.
The sliding scale
Your tier, step by step
Two facts set your tier: how many people live in your household and what the household earns. If a fee would keep you from coming, tell us before your first session.
| Your household's income, for its size | What to bring | Your fee |
|---|---|---|
| In the lowest band | What to bringProof of income, such as recent pay stubs, a benefits letter or last year's tax return. If you have none, tell us and we will find another way. | Your feeThe lowest fee on the scale. |
| In a middle band | What to bringThe same papers, and your household size. | Your feeA fee between the lowest and the standard fee. |
| Above the scale | What to bringYour insurance information, if you use it. | Your feeThe standard fee, or your insurance if you have it. |
| If your income changes | What to bringA new proof of income. Tell us as soon as you know. | Your feeWe review your tier with you. |

Questions
More about paying for care
What is a superbill, and can I use it?
A superbill is an itemized receipt you can send to your own plan, with the date and kind of each session. Your plan may reimburse part of the cost. It carries a diagnosis code your insurer can see, and your plan decides what it pays.
Can I use an HSA or FSA card?
Yes. A health savings or flexible spending card works like any other card at the end of a session. Keep your receipt in case your plan asks for it.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please tell us 24 hours ahead if you need to change a session, so the time can go to someone else. If something comes up at the last minute, call us and we will talk it through.
